Procedures in UpGuard provide an automated method of validating the execution of IT processes. This article covers how to view and interpret procedure results, and how to manage those results via filtering.

Viewing Procedure Results

Procedures Dashboard

The initial view on navigating to procedures from the navigation bar is a dashboard showing the most recent results for all procedures. This view allows you to understand the value those procedures are creating for your organization and to zoom in on failures that are putting you at risk.

Time Saved and ROI

Running the same checks every day is both necessary and a waste of the precious gift of life. UpGuard helps justify the automation of this labor by recording the amount of time saved by using UpGuard instead of a person and quantifying that in USD. The time saved calculation assumes that running a single check takes 40 seconds. The ROI calculation assumes an average salary of $100,000 for operators. It does not include any values for opportunity cost or switching cost.

### Filtering to Procedures with Failures In the top bar is a count of the number of procedures with failures. Clicking this number will filter the list of procedures to just those with failures. To dismiss the filter and return to a list of all procedures, clicking the X on the button below.

Policy Failures

If policy run steps have failures, then clicking on that step will display a list of nodes with policy failures. Clicking each node will display the failures on that node. Policy checks are the combination of an expected value, an actual value, and a comparison operator; failing policies mean the actual value is wack and as such is highlighted in red.
